The Great British Bake Off (Week 63)

Well it was quite the week haha!

The past couple of weeks my companion and I have attempted to bake some goods for some members and other people in our area.

Last week I had the amazing idea to bake some cookies. As I finished making the cookie dough, I noticed that it didn't quite look like how my mum used to make it. So I decided to add some flour. And then I added more flour. Mistake. After baking it and taste testing it, I realized I had made really bready cookies. So I put some of the mixture into a bread pan. And then some more into a bigger pan. And then some more into a muffin tin. We didn't end up giving any of it to anyone.

A couple of days ago we decided to do the same thing but with brownies. We must have had the oven on too hot and definitely didn't use a very good pan for baking, because the final product turned out to be brownie soup haha. We again didn't give any of that out.

It was either Wednesday or Thursday this past week when we were going to do some street contacting. Then it started to pour rain. We decided to drive out in the country to find this
person in our area book. Driving on the opposite side and on the narrow British roads while it is pouring rain is quite the experience.

Anyway we got out to this guy's house and met his adult son outside. We were greeted in with a warm welcome into Fred's home. Fred is old. I love old people. A lot of them here in England haha and it is the greatest. We had a good discussion with Fred and will be coming back to meet with him later this week. Stay tuned for Fred part II.

I read a pretty sweet scripture this past week. Romans 15:4 says,  "For whatsoever things were written aforetime were written for our learning, that we through patience and comfort of the scriptures might have hope." Some days are just crazy. A lot of stuff can happen and there are so many distractions out there. I get kind of flustered when I'm insanely busy and when some of my routines get thrown off. At times I can get unwanted anxiety. What always helps me is turning to the scriptures and focusing on the central message and promise of ages, even Jesus Christ.
